Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join Kier Design across multiple UK locations with agile working options. The role involves leading temporary works design and checking, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering safe, buildable solutions for complex projects.

You will mentor colleagues, shape technical standards, and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Kier's Quality Management System, while maintaining your professional development.

Qualifications

• Incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEng MICE) with significant experience.
• Experience in temporary works design and checking across varying materials.
• Ability to lead development of design solutions and assess third-party designs.
• Capable of managing workloads and ensuring CDM and quality management compliance.
• Committed to continuous professional development and active professional body membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works as applicable.
• Provide tender and bid support including outline design schemes and value engineering.
• Manage technical aspects of projects ensuring CDM compliance and Kier's QMS.
• Develop relationships with clients and design teams and represent Kier at meetings.
• Mentor and develop staff within Kier Design and promote engineering excellence.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join our Kier Design team based in various locations. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. Join us as a Senior Temporary Works Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline - supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery.

Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Your day to day will include:

• Leading temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works design as applicable
• Providing tender and bid winning support including outline design schemes, feasibility studies and value engineering solutions
• Managing technical aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and Kier's Quality Management System
• Developing positive relationships with clients and design teams, representing Kier at project meetings
• Mentoring and developing staff within Kier Design, promoting the engineering profession and maintaining knowledge transfer
