AECOM is seeking a Senior Technology Consultant to deliver Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) and smart city projects for clients across the UK and internationally.

The role requires delivering advisory services through to design and delivery, leading technical teams, and expanding the use of mobility technologies. Hybrid working and professional development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Maths or Physics.
• Experience in a similar role - e.g. Smart Cities, Intelligent Transport Systems, Connected and Automated Vehicles, MaaS, communications network design.
• Knowledge of ITS and technologies which contribute to modern transportation.
• Knowledge of transport technology market demands, trends and challenges.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, feasibility/options studies and working directly with clients.

• Act as technology scout to push the boundaries of mobility and explore emerging opportunities.
• Lead research, data analysis and provide recommendations relative to client, technology and future.
• Capture client, stakeholder, system and user requirements—develop systems and services, architecture, design docs and reports.
• Review current and emerging technologies to deploy them for real-world client problems.
• Undertake problem analysis and prepare solution options.
• Undertake feasibility and detailed design tasks.
• Ensure the quality of technical deliverables aligns with client briefs and procedures.

Our Technology Services team are looking for a Senior Technology Consultant to help deliver Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Smart Cities, Mobility and all forms of technology-led transport projects to clients across the UK and internationally.

The team provides services to a diverse client base, from strategic advisory services through to technical research, design and delivery related engineering services. The Technology Services team works closely with clients and partners, largely in the Transportation Sector, although this role will also support other sectors due to its specialist nature.

Our Clients are many and varied and span National Transport Authorities, Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and Contractors as well as the private sector and internal UK and International AECOM businesses.

Recent and Current Projects Include:

• Innovative transport technology projects, including Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), Cooperative ITS (C-ITS), Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and the planning, design and implementation of Smart Motorways schemes and performance assessments.
• Supporting the development and delivery of next-generation mobility solutions, including connected vehicle testbeds and autonomous vehicle trials.
• Developing ITS strategies, action plans, and transformational programmes for transport authorities and national road operators.
• Planning, designing, and implementing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), control centres, telecommunications networks, speed enforcement systems, and traffic management solutions.
• Contributing to sustainable transport initiatives, including EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy projects, and depot decarbonisation.

The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed design stages through to performance monitoring and assessment.

Here’s a broad sample of what you’ll do as a Senior Consultant:

• Provide specialist technical consultancy and design services for the development of projects and bids and subsequent delivery of technical work across Intelligent Transport Systems, Smart Cities, Mobility solutions, C-ITS.
• Have awareness of new developments, technologies and skills helping you and AECOM push the boundaries of mobility through the next generation ITS, CAV and smart cities and acting as a technology scout exploring emerging opportunities within the Technology Services team.
• Lead research, data analysis and proposing recommendations relative to the client, technology and the future.
• Capture client, stakeholder, system and user requirements - developing systems and services, system architecture, design documentation and technical reports.
• Review current and emerging technologies with a view to deploying them to solve real world problems for clients.
• Undertake problem analysis and prepare solution options.
• Undertake feasibility and detailed design tasks.
• Check that the quality of technical deliverables is in line with the client’s brief and AECOM’s quality procedures.
