Job description
Overview

Senior Technician – Woodwork at Birmingham City University School of Arts, Technical team.

Responsibilities
  • Support students in the production of high‑quality outcomes for courses in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Product and Furniture Design.
  • Deliver 1:1 instruction and group demonstrations, maintaining workshop equipment and scheduling machine servicing.
  • Order materials, record material use and manage stock levels, champion sustainable working methods and use of resources.
  • Manage appointment and demonstration bookings, create and review health and safety documentation, ensuring safety is maintained at all times.
Qualifications
  • Degree level (or equivalent combination of qualifications, skills and experience) in a relevant subject.
  • Significant practical experience of woodwork at all scales and levels of production.
  • Strong communication skills, able to impart technical knowledge to individuals and groups.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office programs, CAD literacy and familiarity with Asset Management software and online communication tools.
Desired
  • CNC Router operation, steam bending, veneering.
  • First Aid training, COSHH qualification, IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.
