A leading telecommunications company in the UK is seeking a Senior Technician for Groundworks to support maintenance within the Transmission network. Qualifications

Job description
Senior Technician – Groundworks
Purpose

Support first line maintenance of sites within the Transmission network, carrying out routine tasks, meeting agreed service levels, team efficiency/quality targets, and ensuring that we maintain our service to our customers. Supports the delivery of Project related work both in and out of region.

Location

North London, ideally able to drive to Hatfield, AL9 6NE, within 60 minutes (with travel to Essex, Chelmsford, Stevenage, Luton, Cambridge, Peterborough).

  • Up to £37,000 base salary

Accountabilities
  • Respond to faults in a timely manner and complete corrective maintenance on a range of RF system networks to meet our Customer Service Level Agreements.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance in line with Arqiva standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems and networks following agreed instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting of actions taken.
  • Complete testing and measurements to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer requirements.
  • Engage with customers both internal and external and build positive working relationships.
  • Undertake contractor supervision duties as required, including monitoring of contractors and their safe working practices, so that relevant standards are met.
  • Actively participate in 24/7 365 callout response as per the scheduled rota.
  • Always work safely, complying with current Health & Safety legislation and Arqiva policy.
  • Flexibly available, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Climb up to 60 metres on Arqiva Structures.
  • Proactive and adaptive work ethic.
  • Engage with company culture and values.
  • Complete all designated learning and development commitments associated with the role.

Knowledge & Experience
  • HNC or equivalent level 4 qualification OR relevant experience.
  • Experience with processes, standards and engineering practices related to corrective and preventative maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles.
  • Knowledge and experience of fault finding and troubleshooting and the ability to communicate findings within a team.
  • Working knowledge of systems and equipment relevant to role such as RF systems, Digital Television, Analogue Radio, DAB, Microwave links, Satellite systems, Data Networks, Telecoms etc.
  • Basic knowledge of RF principles.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of power supplies, environmental controls, telemetry systems, analogue and digital electronics.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • On a needs basis working away from home will be required.
  • Ability to partake in proactive development of new technologies and equipment.
  • Takes ownership of own personal development to support business‑led opportunities.
