We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer and Due-Diligence Lead to own and drive the preparation of client-ready technical documents, due-diligence responses, and funding proposals. This role will ensure that Varaha’s technical expertise is communicated clearly, consistently, and credibly across stakeholders, including investors, auditors, standard bodies, and grant-makers. This is a cross-functional role requiring strong scientific grounding, precision writing skills, and the ability to manage processes across technical, operations, and commercial teams.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Receive and classify client questionnaires and proposal requests. Identify what can be answered immediately, what requires expert input, and what needs new documentation.
- Draft precise technical answers with sources, assumptions, and clear limits of any claim.
- Create missing appendices, standard operating procedures, diagrams, and data summaries.
- Coordinate inputs across teams. Set timelines. Drive review and approval to completion.
- Maintain a structured answer library and a client-ready document repository. Keep language and facts consistent across proposals, contracts, and project materials.
- Lead or support grant applications. Align writing with reviewer criteria and commercial goals.
- Guide the commercial team on how to present technical content accurately and consistently.
Qualifications
- Based in Europe or India. Willing to travel to India and to project sites when needed.
- 5 to 10 years working on smallholder regenerative agriculture and/or agroforestry in Africa or Asia.
- Proven technical writing for due-diligence processes, project design documents, monitoring reports, or proposal responses. Provide writing samples.
- Successful grant writing or proposal leadership with measurable funding results.
- Strong understanding of nature-based carbon projects: baselines, additionality, permanence, leakage, and risk buffers.
- Working knowledge of soil carbon and biomass measurement, monitoring, reporting, verification, and sampling design.
- Able to read agronomy data and remote-sensing outputs and turn them into concise, defensible claims.
- Sound business judgment. Presents benefits, costs, and risks without exaggeration.
- Reliable process habits: structured intake, targeted requests to experts, careful citation, and disciplined document management.
- Excellent written English.
Preferred
- Experience with Verra, Gold Standard, or Plan Vivo, including auditor interactions.
- Experience writing standard operating procedures for field protocols, quality assurance, and quality control.
- Familiarity with working in India.
