Job summary

FJN Recruitment Solutions is seeking a senior underwriting leader to support the Underwriting Manager in governance, technical framework and development of tailored insurance products, delegated authority arrangements and reinsurance treaties.

You will act as a key link between partnerships and stakeholders, delivering governance oversight, technical expertise and high-quality service while driving innovation and continuous improvement across products and propositions.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical underwriting experience across commercial and consumer insurance.
  • Experience managing delegated authority and treaty reinsurance arrangements.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to commercial and retail insurance.
  • Proven experience drafting and managing policy wordings, binding authority agreements and reinsurance treaties.
  • Strong governance, analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working in project-based and/or Agile environments.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, collaborative and self-directed, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work confidently across a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic underwriting growth plans, ensuring alignment with underwriting standards, business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and develop existing and new partner relationships, including attending and leading partner meetings.
  • Own and maintain the governance framework, working closely with Underwriting, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Risk and other relevant teams.
  • Monitor industry best practice and regulatory developments, ensuring their effective application to distribution strategies.
  • Develop technical capability across internal and external stakeholder groups through advice, guidance and training.
  • Oversee insurance policy wordings, contracts, delegated authority arrangements and reinsurance treaties.
  • Ensure robust processes for implementing, recording and monitoring changes to partner contracts, guidelines and underwriting arrangements.
  • Work collaboratively to align products, services, policy wordings and propositions with underwriting and distribution strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of delegated authority and treaty governance frameworks.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across products and propositions.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, partners and wider business stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a high-performance culture and demonstrate strong leadership behaviours.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant industry events, conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Deliver technical training to internal and external audiences.

Role Purpose

A senior role supporting the Underwriting Manager in overseeing the governance, technical framework and development of tailored insurance products, delegated authority arrangements and reinsurance treaties. The role acts as a key link between the Partnerships function and internal/external stakeholders, providing technical expertise, governance oversight and high-quality service to partners.
