Job summary

The Government Digital Service (GDS) is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to join GOV.UK's Platform Engineering team. You will run the platform as a product, build a product strategy, and own the roadmap with a focus on enabling technical teams and delivering value to government services.

You’ll gather needs from a range of technical users, define priorities, and present progress to senior stakeholders. You’ll line manage 1-2 Product Managers and work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Experience product-managing internal or technical products.
• Defined, measured and reported performance objectives for a product.
• Effective verbal, written and visual communication to senior leadership.
• Proficiency in agile product management: roadmaps, prioritisation, user stories, MVPs.

Responsibilities

• Foster a platform-as-product approach and culture.
• Define and iterate an evidence-based product vision.
• Maintain a roadmap and strategy across horizons.
• Define and report platform product metrics for senior stakeholders.
• Present progress and needs at senior level with the Lead Product Manager.
• Set clear, outcome-oriented goals with the team, balancing reliability and security.
• Collaborate with teammates on prototypes and test-and-learn approaches.
• Engage users and stakeholders to drive take-up of platform paths.
• Work with delivery teams to minimise WIP and enable rapid learning.
• Share learning within the government product manager community.
• Line manage 1-2 Product Managers.
