Job description

The Senior Technical Fellow will serve as a recognised subject matter expert in regulatory compliance and safety, advising clients on complex environmental health and safety challenges. This role combines technical leadership, strategic consulting and thought leadership, supporting litigation, regulatory reviews and risk assessments.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, contribute to business development and mentor technical teams. This is a client‑facing position requiring deep expertise in UK and international regulatory frameworks, strong analytical skills and exceptional communication abilities.

Regulatory Advisory
  • Interpret and apply UK Cosmetics Regulation EU Regulation (EC) No 1223 / 2009 and global standards.
  • Ensure compliance with REACH, CLP and worldwide cosmetic ingredient regulations.
  • Act as Responsible Person for EU and UK markets; manage CPNP / SCPN notifications and labelling requirements.
Safety Leadership
  • Conduct toxicological risk assessments for cosmetic ingredients and finished products.
  • Review Product Information Files (PIFs) and safety reports for regulatory submissions.
  • Support claims substantiation and hazard communication.
Technical Expertise
  • Prepare expert reports for litigation and regulatory investigations.
  • Collaborate with CROs for pre‑clinical and clinical testing strategies.
Client Engagement
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in high‑stakes matters including product recalls and compliance audits.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; contribute to proposals and scopes of work.
Leadership & Mentorship
  • Publish technical papers and deliver presentations at industry conferences.
  • Mentor junior consultants and lead internal knowledge development.
  • Oversee team operations, recruitment and training ensuring delivery of compliance services across EU, UK and USA markets.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Toxicology, Regulatory Science, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Significant exposure and understanding in cosmetics regulatory compliance and safety consulting.
  • Proven track record in client‑facing consulting roles and project leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of UK / EU cosmetics regulations, REACH, CLP and international standards.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Board certification (e.g. DABT CIH) highly desirable.
