Job summary

Red Kite in Leeds is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to prototype, implement and balance gameplay systems across AAA PC and console projects. You will collaborate with art, code and production to push boundaries with innovative game mechanics and tooling.

Senior Technical Designer

Specialising in AAA PC and console games development, Red Kite has a proven track record in the creation of cutting-edge games across varying genres.

Having set up home in the beautiful Grade-II listed Park Row House in Leeds city centre, Red Kite continues to develop top-quality games for multiple world-class publishing partners such as Sony, Microsoft, Activision, 2K, SEGA, Warner Bros., Epic, 505, Rare, Rocksteady, Codemasters, Sharkmob, Mediatonic and Remedy.

In your new role you will focus on:
  • Creating prototypes for developing new gameplay ideas and features
  • Implementing design tasks to a high standard in conjunction with art, code and production
  • Designing and implementing innovative game systems
  • Building tools and design systems to enhance or simplify creative work processes
  • Reviewing, tweaking and balancing gameplay
  • Contributing to game concept creation
To be successful you will have:
  • Technical proficiency across multiple game engines (UE5, Unity or custom engines)
  • Advanced knowledge of game and level design principles
  • Advanced knowledge of C# or a similar scripting language (C++ will also be an advantage)
  • A passion for cutting edge game technology
  • Understanding of optimisation and technical limitations
