Senior Technical Artist: Performance Capture Pipeline

Rockstar is on the lookout for a talented Senior Pipeline Technical Artist focused on our varied automated/pipeline systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our game development teams, across all development disciplines, and help drive our tools technology forward to support the development of various Rockstar Games projects.

This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s unique game development studio in the heart of London.

WHAT WE DO
  • We architect and build pipelines that improve our asset and automation processes. This includes building backend systems, web API, automated processes, data processing workflows, core libraries, service interface libraries and more.
  • We research and develop new pipeline and development technologies for Technical Art and other departments.
  • We support teams processing data at scale, supporting an always increasing content production demand.
  • We collaborate and communicate with various other departments and Technical Art teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Technical Art and Tools team on a wide range of automation focused tasks within an established and evolving codebase.
  • Design, build, improve or optimize pipelines used by internal Rockstar teams to streamline and support production.
  • Design, build and improve web APIs and backend services that exist to support our Pipelines and Workflows.
  • Work with other Pipeline Animation team members to develop cutting‑edge solutions to support increasing content production necessities.
  • Research and develop new pipeline and development technologies.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Python and/or C# knowledge is a prerequisite for the role.
  • 5+ years of applicable professional experience as a Technical Artist/TD/Tools Programmer in video games, film, or VFX industry.
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining complex workflows and pipelines.
  • Experience building web APIs and backend services in Python or C#, using a framework: gRPC, FastAPI, Flask, or ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience with Docker/Containers and orchestration (preferably Kubernetes).
  • Experience working with pre-existing proprietary or 3rd party automation systems/processes.
  • Strong communication, self‑management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work within a schedule and deliver effectively to deadlines.
PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Relevant video games development experience, preferably on an AAA game.
  • Experience with setting up CI/CD systems on GitHub or GitLab platforms.
  • Knowledge of ELK stack.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum method.
  • Experience using Motionbuilder and/or Maya as a technical artist/TD.
  • Experience with FFMPEG Tool Suite or similar video/audio processing tools.
