Job summary

A Senior Technical Architect role in London’s Canary Wharf area focuses on modernising Custody and Securities Services platforms. The role combines architectural leadership with hands-on design of microservices, event-driven patterns and API integration across complex post-trade processing environments.

You will partner with engineering, product and business stakeholders to set architecture strategy, govern standards and ensure scalable, resilient solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Technical/Solution/Lead Architect in Financial Services.
• Strong understanding of Custody/Securities Services, Capital Markets or Post-Trade processing.
• Experience across domains: Securities Settlements, Asset Servicing, Transaction Management, Cash & FX, Tax Processing.
• Proven engineering background with Java, Spring Boot; databases like Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL.
• Design of Microservices, Event-driven, Domain-driven and distributed platforms.
• Experience with Kafka, IBM MQ or Solace messaging; API/REST/OpenAPI.
• Exposure to AWS and cloud-native architectures; governance boards.
• Familiarity with architecture governance frameworks and review processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture across custody and securities platforms.
• Design and deliver modern microservices and event-driven solutions.
• Define integration patterns using APIs and messaging technologies.
• Drive modernization of legacy and batch systems.
• Govern architecture standards for performance, security and resilience.
• Lead architecture reviews and support governance activities.

• Evaluate third-party platforms and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Identify and remediate technical debt with long-term strategy.
• Create PoCs for new technologies and integration approaches.
• Explore Generative AI opportunities to boost productivity.
