Are you an experienced Technical Architect looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Our client, a Central Government organisation, is seeking a talented Senior Technical Architect to join their team in London. As a Senior Technical Architect, you will play a key role in shaping the technical strategy and roadmap for various services. This is your chance to contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge solutions and drive digital transformation within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, maintain, and own the technical strategy and roadmap for services, ensuring integration with other teams and driving evolution over time.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and provide technical and non-technical direction.
  • Mentor, coach, and line manage other Technical Architects.
  • Guide technical teams and influence technical choices to enable digital transformation.
  • Evaluate technical concepts and translate them into technical designs.
  • Foster collaboration and identify opportunities for reusing common components.
  • Assure quality in services and systems, aligning with broader agency strategy.
  • Support hiring and recruitment for Technical Architects and other professions.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience as a Technical Architect, providing guidance and support to teams.
  • Practical knowledge of modern cloud-first architectures and building applications to leverage cloud opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of multitier web solutions, including frontend / backend microservices, event-driven processing, API provision / consumption, databases, and pub / sub patterns.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate security risks in public cloud environments.
  • Experience aligning digital services with wider technical strategies.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and practises to make effective technical choices.
  • Familiarity with best practises such as TDD, CI / CD, and DevOps.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for varied stakeholders.
  • Strong decision-making ability and the confidence to articulate recommendations and decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to lead technical teams.
Tech Stack
  • Programming languages: TypeScript / Node, Kotlin / Java.
  • Cloud platforms: AWS and / or Azure (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
  • Container orchestration: Kubernetes.
  • Version control: GitHub.
  • Development practises: TDD, CI / CD.
  • Additional tools: Prometheus, Grafana, AppInsights, GitHub Actions, CircleCI.
