Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Technical Account Manager (TAM) to act as a principal technical advisor and voice of the customer for Enterprise Support. You will craft strategies to drive AWS adoption across compute, storage, databases, and more, while working with executives to manage incidents and risk.

Qualifications

  • Experience in design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications.
  • Experience in technical engineering and customer-facing roles.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architecture and cloud services.
  • Experience in an external enterprise customer-facing role as a technical lead.
  • Experience in three or more areas: software design, CDN, scripting, DB, IP networking, IT security, BigData, SOA.
  • Experience as TAM/consultant/solutions architect or similar.
  • Practical knowledge of 5G network architecture/call flows.
  • Practical knowledge of OSS/BSS products.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on solutions, provide technical guidance and advocate for the customer.
  • Ensure AWS environments remain operationally healthy while reducing cost and complexity.
  • Develop trusting relationships, understanding business and technical challenges.
  • Drive technical discussions on incidents, trade-offs, and risk management.
  • Consult with developers through to C-suite executives.
  • Collaborate with Solutions Architects, Business Developers, Professional Services, and Sales Account Managers.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for additional AWS value.
  • Provide reviews of service events and pre-launch planning.
  • Solve varied problems as customers migrate to the cloud.
  • Run workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to uplift customer capabilities.

This is not a sales role, but rather an opportunity to be the principal technical advisor and ‘voice of the customer’ to organizations ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

The Role

As a TAM, you will help craft and execute strategies to drive our customers’ adoption and use of AWS services - including EC2, S3, DynamoDB & RDS databases, Lambda, CloudFront CDN, IoT, and many more. Your technical acumen and customer-facing skills will enable you to effectively represent AWS within a customer’s environment, and drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.

You will provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices, and proactively keep your customers’ AWS environments operationally healthy. The close relationships developed with your customers will allow you to understand their business/operational needs and technical challenges, and help them achieve the greatest value from AWS. This position will require the ability to travel 10% or more as needed.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The

AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Key job responsibilities
  • You’ll advise on solutions, provide technical guidance and advocate for the customer

  • Ensure AWS environments remain operationally healthy whilst reducing cost and complexity

  • Develop trusting relationships with customers, understanding their business needs and technical challenges

  • Using your technical acumen and customer obsession, you’ll drive technical discussions regarding incidents, trade-offs, and risk management

  • Consult with a range of partners from developers through to C-suite executives

  • Collaborate with AWS Solutions Architects, Business Developers, Professional Services Consultants, and Sales Account Managers

  • With a bias for action, you'll proactively find opportunities for customers to gain additional value from AWS

  • Provide detailed reviews of service events, monthly & quarterly metrics, detailed pre-launch planning

  • Solve a variety of problems across different customers as they migrate their workloads to the cloud

  • Uplift customer capabilities by running workshops, brown bag sessions, etc.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications

  • Experience in technical engineering

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of of cloud based architecture, cloud services and experience in customer facing roles

  • Experience in external enterprise customer-facing role as a technical lead, with strong oral and written communication skills, presenting to both large and small audiences

  • Experience in three (3) or more of the following areas: software design or development, content distribution/CDN, scripting/automation, database architecture, IP networking, IT security, BigData/Hadoop/Spark, operations management, service oriented architecture

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings

  • Experience with operational parameters and troubleshooting for four (4) of the following: compute/storage/networking/CDN/databases/DevOps/big data and analytics/security/applications development in a distributed systems environment

  • Experience as a technical account manager, consultant, solutions architect, platform engineer, systems engineer, cloud architect or in a similar role

  • Practical knowledge of 5G network architecture and call-flows and experience in troubleshooting 5G networks

  • Practical knowledge of OSS/BSS and experience in troubleshooting OSS/BSS products
