Job summary

Adaptive, a financial consulting firm, seeks a product-focused professional to shape and govern front-office technology delivery. You will translate complex technical solutions into structured backlog items, working with engineering, QA, and architecture teams in a London-based setting.

In this role, you will drive requirements, acceptance criteria, and QA validation across distributed workflows, ensuring delivery aligns with business objectives and customer use cases.

Qualifications

• Ability to see the big picture while managing delivery details.
• Ability to communicate across technical and business stakeholders.
• Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or complex delivery situations.
• Understand system behaviour beyond pure functionality.
• Strong technical and domain-driven mindset; work with engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with high-performance messaging or sequencing platforms (Aeron, Kafka, Hydra) and knowledge of message ordering and fault tolerance.
• Exposure to low-latency or high-throughput messaging infra in demanding environments.
• Experience in QA, Software Engineering, Technical Business Analysis, or similar.
• Product-first mindset combining Domain-Driven Design with system-level thinking.
• Ability to document functional and non-functional requirements clearly.
• Understanding of performance, scalability, resilience, and availability in modern platforms.
• Experience working in Agile or Kanban across software lifecycle.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions; translate complex challenges into deliverables.
• Create process flows, sequencing diagrams, and docs aligning technical and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Shape requirements and drive alignment in ambiguous situations with minimal direction.
• Adapt to different delivery models across products (engineering-led and BA-led).
• Define and maintain functional and non-functional requirements, including acceptance criteria and QA needs.
• Raise questions early so solutions are well understood, defined and deliverable.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and architecture to translate solutions into backlog items and testable outcomes.
• Help stakeholders materialise their product vision, especially early in each delivery phase.
• Be the stakeholders' proxy in the team; make quick, firm decisions on scope and priorities.
• Drive backlog review and estimation; participate in planning activities.
• Define upfront acceptance criteria and tests using Business-Driven Development.
• Follow up during implementation and testing to ensure requirements are met.
• Work with QA to assess failure scenarios and distinguish bugs from new features.
• Facilitate discussions across technical and business stakeholders for clarity and alignment.
• Support delivery, implementation and release processes aligned with objectives and use cases.
• Help improve operational processes with a calm, pragmatic approach.
