Job description

Are you an experienced Senior Systems Programmer with deep Unity knowledge and a passion for strategy games?

A studio working on a complete remake of a classic tactical warfare simulation is seeking someone like you to help bring this genre-defining title into the modern era. Built in Unity 6 with HDRP, this is a full rewrite of a legacy system, designed to power immersive, scalable gameplay for the next generation of players.

This is a full-time, permanent role that can be done remotely or from offices in the UK, Italy, or Poland.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working alongside the Lead Engineer to evolve and future-proof core gameplay systems
  • Contributing to architectural design, technical planning, and engineering best practices
  • Taking ownership of critical systems such as AI, pathfinding, simulation logic, and performance
  • Refactoring legacy systems into a clean, modern Unity 6 architecture
  • Conducting code reviews and mentoring less experienced developers
  • Maintaining clear documentation to ensure long-term maintainability and scalability
  • Collaborating with design and production teams to align technology with gameplay vision

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of professional experience using Unity (C#), with at least one shipped title
  • Strong background in systems programming, performance optimisation, and technical architecture
  • Expertise with Unity 6 and HDRP, and experience rebuilding or maintaining complex systems
  • Familiarity with simulation gameplay, tactical or RTS-style systems
  • Proficiency in debugging, profiling, and managing version control and CI pipelines
  • Clear communicator and team player who can mentor others and support team-wide goals
  • Comfortable working with legacy codebases and transforming them into future-proof systems

If you're passionate about building deep, tactical gameplay systems and want to be part of a major remake built for the future, this role could be a perfect fit.Apply now, or reach out to Alfie Brear - aab@skillsearch.com
