Job description

West London NHS Trust is recruiting to the new post of Senior Sustainability Manager. This is key role will help the Trust deliver its sustainability agenda and meet the NHS net zero targets. The Trust has aspirations to become one of the most sustainable organisations in the NHS.

West London NHS Trust (WLNT) and Central London Community Health NHS Trust (CLCH) have formed a strategic partnership for sustainability. Whilst this role is primarily focussed on WLT there will also be a requirement to work closely with the Senior Sustainability Manager at CLCH and delivery some cross cutting projects across both organisations.

The post will have line management responsibility for a more junior member to the team.

Main duties of the job

A flexible approach will also be required as the individual will be required to travel between sites.The post holder will lead and provide expert knowledge on all aspects of environmental sustainability ensuring sustainable development is integrated into our core business. Specific attention will be applied to the nine areas of focus prioritized by the Greener NHS unit:

  • Estates and Facilities
  • Medicines
  • Supply chain and procurement
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Adaptation

Close working relationships will be required with staff of all levels and all disciplines including Executive Directors as well as leads and experts within other organisations.

Development and monitoring of a multi-year programme will be key. Progress will be reported, both internally and externally, through meetings, data returns and information requests.

Excellent project management, communication and people skills will be essential to carry out this role.
