Senior Surveyor

Working hours Full time 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements including part time will be considered)

Salary up to £57,000 per year (depending on experience)

Location hybrid working with office location at Pity Me, Durham

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Surveyor to join our Estates team, providing professional leadership and delivery expertise on all land and property matters across Northumbrian Water’s appointed and non-appointed estates and capital works projects.

You will manage a caseload of capital works jobs, land rights, access, compensation, and valuation matters, ensuring that NWG’s statutory obligations are met and that projects are delivered efficiently and compliantly.

You will be a technical authority on within the estates function, working with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring land transactions and negotiations deliver value, protect NWG’s interests, and support long-term asset management objectives.

As a Senior Surveyor, you will be a mentor to and support the development of colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement across the estates function, adding value to the wider NWG One Team.

About you

If you are a Chartered Member or Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with experience in land and property management, utilities or infrastructure, we would love to hear from you!

You will have experience delivering complex negotiations, property transactions, valuation and compensation assessment, and can liaise effectively with landowners, agents, surveyors and legal advisors.

You will have a good understanding of the Water Industry Act 1991, Compulsory Purchase Law, and Agricultural Property Law and a proven track record in budget management and external supplier oversight.

You will be proficient in GIS, digital mapping and estate management systems. You can demonstrate leadership and coaching skills to develop team performance.
