Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Residential Home Team Leader to oversee daily operations within their children's home. They have a two-bedded home offering medium to long-term placements for looked‑after children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, mild mental health needs, and mild learning disabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of care staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care tailored to each child's individual needs. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while fostering a supportive and professional team atmosphere. The ideal applicant will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and relevant experience in care settings.

Duties
  • Lead and supervise a team of care workers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective service delivery
  • Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Monitor daily routines to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour among children
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and organisational policies relating to child protection and safeguarding
  • Facilitate training sessions and team meetings to promote professional development and team cohesion
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to care plans, incident reports, and progress notes using IT systems
  • Foster strong communication channels between children, families, external agencies, and staff members
  • Organise activities that support the emotional, social, and educational development of children in residence
  • Assist with transport arrangements by driving when necessary to facilitate appointments or outings
Experience
  • Proven supervising experience within a care home or senior care environment specialising in children's services
  • Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised care plans for young people
  • Strong communication skills suitable for liaising with children, families, professionals, and external agencies
  • Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
  • Driving experience is desirable; valid driving licence essential for transporting children when required

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a children's residential care setting, with experience in a supervisory or senior role preferred.

Qualifications

A Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent (Level 4 or willingness to work toward it is advantage).

Knowledge

Familiarity with safeguarding practices, regulatory standards, and behaviour management techniques.
