Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a dedicated care professional to support people with learning disabilities, mental illnesses and challenging needs in achieving independent community living. You will help maintain written records and prepare reports, and work flexibly to meet service needs in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• To support people with learning disabilities, mental illnesses and or challenging needs to prepare for independent community living.
• To maintain written records and provide written reports as required.
• To collect, collate and provide information necessary for assessment, planning and evaluation of care.
• To bring to the attention of the manager / deputy manager any eventuality which may impair the quality of the service.
• To attend in-service and external training as appropriate and agreed with the manager / deputy manager.
• To work flexible hours in response to service needs.
• To liaise and collaborate with other professionals as necessary in the residents’ best interests.
• To supervise support workers.
• To participate in other training provided by the team and to agree and fulfil a rolling twice a year programme of personal skills / knowledge development in specialist aspects of care.
• To demonstrate own knowledge to junior members of staff and to learners upon allocation to the home.
• To demonstrate competencies in supporting people with mental illness above those expected of support workers.
• To be able to research and organise community participation, training, recreation and occupational activities for people we support.
• To escort and support residents on community outings, appointments, and day care activities as necessary.
• To have an awareness of legal requirements and the individual rights of people.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties of which the post-holder is competent.
