Job summary

Cedar Lodge Care Home is a well-established care facility in Taunton, Somerset, offering specialist dementia, palliative and respite care for up to 39 residents, alongside The Limes, a mental health community serving 15 individuals.

The Senior Support Worker role leads high-quality, person-centred care, oversees medication administration, and supports a calm, professional team environment on shift.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care required or working towards.
• Medication training and competency in administration.
• Experience supporting or leading within a care environment.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within a specialist complex setting.
• Oversee medication administration and ensure care plans are followed with accurate records.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation and liaise with the wider team to support safe, consistent care.
• Take responsibility for smooth running of your shift and provide direction to the team.

Cedar Lodge Care Home is a well established service in Taunton, Somerset, providing specialist dementia, palliative and respite care for up to 39 residents, alongside The Limes, a dedicated mental health community supporting a further 15 individuals. Set in a peaceful location, the home offers a welcoming, supportive environment with a strong focus on personalised care, dignity and wellbeing across both services.

Senior Support Worker Contract

• £13.71 per hour
• Contracted to 36 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview
As a Senior Support Worker, you will take a lead role in delivering high quality, person centred care within a specialist complex care setting, supporting individuals with a range of complex physical and mental health needs.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, providing clear direction and support to the team to ensure care is delivered safely, consistently and to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on support, you will respond to changing needs, incidents or concerns, maintaining a calm and well managed environment at all times.

You will oversee medication administration, ensure care plans are followed correctly and maintain accurate and up to date records. Working closely with the wider team, you will support effective communication and contribute to a structured, professional and consistent approach to care.

This role requires a confident, organised and resilient individual who can support both residents and staff within a complex care environment.
