As a Senior Support Worker you will oversee a small team of Learning Support Workers to help our autistic adult learners in the attainment of knowledge and skills that will enhance their wellbeing, independence and social inclusion.

This will be via effective personal support planning that encourages learners participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities both within the centre and out in the local community.

The Senior Support Worker will also work closely with the Team Leaders to provide line management, training and mentoring that supports the wider team and utilises their current PBS skills and knowledge whilst also building their own skills and experience in Autism and Behaviour Analysis.

Training & Development Opportunities
  • Further training in Positive Behaviour Support training (CAPBS coaches programme and AIBI PBS competency framework)
  • Access to Specific Behaviour Analysis Qualifications including Registered Behaviour Technician qualification (RBT), Teaching accreditations (CABAS accreditation, focusing on adult curriculum), BCBA Status (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst certification), UKBA (cert) status and aUKBA (cert) status
  • MSc in Applied Behavioural Analysis worth £13,000 (Curriculum and Instruction in High Incidence Disabilities) or (Applied Behaviour Analysis)
  • PROACT SCRIPr UK – Behaviour Management (Instructor Training)
Responsibilities of the role
  • Provide both Behaviour Analytic and Positive Behaviour Support to learners
  • Support learner participation in social, leisure and educational activities within the local community
  • Support adult learners to access work experience and employment opportunities
  • Encourage and enable learner development in all aspects of their life skills
  • Collate, record and analyse data to monitor progress and enhance the development of learning programmes
  • Support the Team Leader with the line management of the team including preparing and participating in staff reviews, training, observations and preparation of staffing rotas
  • Mentor both new and current team members
  • Undertake study and training to develop personal knowledge of Autism and Behaviour Analysis
Knowledge and Experience
  • Hands‑on knowledge and experience of delivering Positive Behaviour Support and / or Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Proven experience of working in an adult social care community‑based service or similar setting
  • Experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities, autism and / or complex needs
  • Experience of mentoring staff, managing performance and delivering training
  • Experience of developing / designing / delivering ABA programmes in educational, care or community settings (desirable but not essential)
Skills
  • Confidence working with adults who exhibit behaviours that challenge and providing personal and intimate care where required
  • An ability to keep patient and calm in high‑pressure situations
  • The ability to keep detailed records and reports, and produce accurate graph data
  • An empathetic, positive can‑do attitude with skill to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • The ability to work as part of a team and communicate confidently at all levels of the organisation to build rapport and positive working relationships with all stakeholders
Desirable Training and Qualifications
  • Completed Care Certificate
  • NVQ / QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults)
  • Recognised training in Positive Behaviour Support such as the CAPBS coaches programme and or AIBI levels including Supervising Competency from the PBS competency framework
  • Driving licence or access to a lift (due to our remote location)
  • A desire to undertake on‑going professional development and training in Autism, Behaviour Analysis, Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support
Salary and Contract

Salary: £26,888 – £33,500 based on experience (plus a £500 bonus on completion of probation)

Contract terms: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00 (plus 25 days bank holidays). Part‑time working options can be considered.
