Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B prison located in Lancashire. You will mainly be based in the Healthcare Department, however wing work will also be required as and when.

  • 37.5 hours per week

Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Prioritise patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers.
  • Work with individuals on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information; support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions.
  • Occasionally support dispensing.
Qualifications
  • Registered nurse with current NMC registration – Adult / Mental Health
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience of working with opiate dependent patients.
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
  • A non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
