Job summary

The Emerald Group in London is seeking an experienced Senior Actuary to join its Global Life Financial Solutions team for Europe, Middle-East and Latin America. You will lead pricing and structuring of life reinsurance solutions and work with clients to tailor outcomes to objectives.

You should be a qualified life actuary with at least 8 years in financial services, strong Solvency II knowledge, and the ability to combine technical excellence with commercial insight.

Responsibilities

• Develop, structure and market life reinsurance solutions including accounting, regulatory and economic risk-transfer aspects.
• Develop pricing tools to analyse risk and profitability of life reinsurance solutions.
• Support deal execution: respond to RFPs, negotiate terms with clients and brokers, prepare internal memos.
• Support business development through client visits and tailored solutions.
• Prepare internal and external presentations on life reinsurance topics as required.

Job description

They are seeking an experienced, dynamic, results orientated Senior Actuary to join their growing Global Life Financial Solutions team for Europe, Middle-East and Latin America regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of models assessing the underlying risk (including high level experience analysis) and development of the appropriate structure (with broader team) to meet clients’ needs.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Develop, structure and market appropriate reinsurance solutions encompassing accounting, regulatory and economic risk-transfer aspects
• Technical development of pricing tools to analyse risk and profitability of life reinsurance solutions
• Contribute to the deal execution involving responding to RFPs, negotiating terms with clients and brokers, and prepare internal approval memos
• Support the business development efforts prospecting/client visits promoting their solutions and tailoring to specific client objectives
• Prepare and make internal and external presentations on life reinsurance topics as required
• Qualified life actuary
• At least 8 years of relevant financial services industry experience
• Experience in actuarial pricing and structuring bespoke reinsurance agreements will be ideal
• You are a technically excellent individual with an ability to demonstrate commercial sense
• Strong actuarial background in pricing life and health insurance / reinsurance and familiar with accounting standards (e.g., USGAAP, IFRS17)
• Good knowledge of Solvency 2 is essential, including awareness of some of the issues faced by insurers
