Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our Water team to lead structural design on water infrastructure projects. The role combines office collaboration with flexible hybrid work across locations.

You will deliver calculations, drawings and technical reports to standards, mentor junior staff and drive innovation, while maintaining project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Civil or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience with reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Experience with BIM and 3D design tools.
• Membership or progression toward ICE or IStructE.

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as Senior Structural Engineer in one of our offices - whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. We’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients - including major UK water companies (Wessex Water, Welsh Water, Southwest Water locally), contractors and international projects.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Structural Design: Undertake the design and review of structural elements on wastewater and water infrastructure treatment projects, such as water-retaining structures and other water related assets, from concept through construction.
• Collaborate: With Clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholders buy in to solutions, and also contribute to AECOMs wider technical capability and innovative approach.
• Quality: Produce and review deliverables, including calculations, drawings and technical reports to relevant standards and procedures.
• Deliver: Take responsibility for delivering to the agreed budget, programme and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budget & programme.
• Explore: Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods by being inquisitive and forward thinking.
• Mentor: Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Civil or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Possess a range of structural analysis and design experience, particularly in relation to reinforced concrete and steelwork structures.
• Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and 3D design tools.
• Have a membership/working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
