Job summary

WSP UK is seeking a structural engineer to deliver design for discrete work packages, prepare reports and calculation packages, and supervise technicians producing 3D models and drawings. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated design solutions and communicate your ideas through sketches, drawings, and presentations.

Site visits will be required to inspect construction works and assess existing structures.

Qualifications

• An engineering degree and progress toward Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE).
• Working knowledge of structural engineering principles and the application of Eurocodes.
• Developing understanding of analytical techniques and design software.
• Interest in low carbon design and embodied carbon considerations.
• Willingness to take responsibility for designs and support junior team members.

Responsibilities

A little more about your role…

In this role you will undertake the structural engineering design for discrete packages of work including the production of reports, calculation packages and specifications

Supervise technicians in the production of 3D models and drawings that clearly communicate the structural engineering solutions

Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to produce coordinated design solutions

Communicate your design solutions verbally and through sketching, drawing, writing and presentations

Visit site to carry out inspections during the construction phase, and to assess existing structures

In your new role you will be reporting directly to the lead structural engineer for the projects that you are involved with. You will have the opportunity to engage with the projects multidisciplinary design teams including external consultants and contribute to the overall success of the projects you are involved with.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

An engineering degree and are progressing towards Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE)

A working knowledge of structural engineering principles and the application of Eurocodes

A developing understanding of the appropriate use of analytical techniques and design software

An interest in low carbon design and the assessment of embodied carbon in your design solutions

A willingness to take responsibility for your designs, be proactive and support less experienced members of the team
