Job summary

Project Centre in London is seeking a Senior Highway Structures Engineer to deliver highway structure designs on high-profile projects across the UK, providing technical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

You will work on concept to detailed designs, perform calculations, and mentor junior engineers while managing budgets and schedules. Chartered or working toward chartership is preferred; 5+ years in highway/bridge engineering is expected. Hybrid working available.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards chartership.
• Around 5+ years' experience in highway structures or bridge engineering.
• Strong knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete bridge design and assessment.
• Experience with NEC contracts, budgets and programmes.

Responsibilities

• Producing and checking engineering calculations, technical reports and drawings.
• Carrying out complex structural analysis and reviewing the work of junior engineers.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to developing team members.

• Attending client meetings and representing Project Centre professionally.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

• Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.


• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng or IEng), or actively working towards chartership.


• Around 5+ years' experience in highway structures or bridge engineering.


• Strong technical knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete bridge design and assessment.


• Proven experience delivering highway bridge and civil structures projects.


• Good working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW standards.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Experience reviewing and checking technical work.


• Commercial awareness, including experience with NEC contracts, budgets and programmes.


• Understanding of CDM Regulations and health & safety responsibilities.
