About the Client

SSA are recruiting on behalf of a long-established Structural & Civil Engineering consultancy with extensive experience delivering a wide range of projects across both residential and commercial sectors. They pride themselves on providing high-quality, innovative solutions with a strong focus on efficiency, safety, and sustainability throughout all stages of design and construction.

About the Role

They are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer working on several commercial and residential led projects across London. The client also have projects across the country and would be expected to travel to them on occasion. Reporting to the Director, as Senior Structural Engineer you will be capable of designing and detailing all structural aspects of a project; is competent in working with other team members within the office environment; is aware of the and the firm's role, position and responsibilities within a projects Design Team.

About the Responsibilities
  • Identify and deliver structural engineering input for procurement and construction packages in line with project scope and client requirements.
  • Ensure all design and engineering work complies with statutory regulations, technical standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare and oversee design documentation, calculations, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Monitor progress, manage deliverables, and take remedial action where needed to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, architects, and design teams to provide coordinated structural solutions.
  • Review drawings, temporary works, and construction documentation to ensure compliance with design intent and standards.
  • Conduct site inspections, prepare technical reports, and verify that built structures align with drawings and regulations.
  • Support BIM and CAD teams with technical guidance, clash detection, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design codes, construction practices, and company procedures.
  • Attend project meetings, provide updates, and complete required reports and administrative tasks.
About the Requirements
  • A Degree / HND in civil engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • A current valid CSR / CSCS Card.
  • A minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience.
  • Previous experience of setting out £5m+ structures.
  • Previous experience of calling off reinforcement and ability to read reinforcement drawings.
  • Operational knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to achieve results.
  • IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and AutoCAD.
