Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join its Building Structures team in the UK. You’ll apply advanced structural design skills to high-profile projects spanning airports, data centers, rail, and energy sectors, delivering robust, safe, and sustainable structures.

You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with clients and architects, and harness digital design tools to stay at the forefront of engineering innovation while contributing to Jacobs’ global projects and values.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer with relevant professional membership would be an advantage.
  • Strong experience in building structure design and specification to standards/regulations.
  • Proficient in structural analysis/design software (e.g., Robot, ETABS, SAFE) - advantageous.
  • Ability to conduct structural inspections and report defects.
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary design processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver structural design across diverse projects in Building Structures.
  • Collaborate with architects and clients to ensure robust, safe, and sustainable designs.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.
  • Utilise digital tools and 3D design practices to innovate engineering solutions.
  • Safeguard budgets and timelines through effective project management.

Here’s what you’ll need
