Job summary

Assystem, a leading nuclear engineering firm in the UK, is seeking a Principal Stress Engineer / Technical Lead to head scoping, bidding and delivery of stress work packages. You will build and lead a team, provide expert guidance and ensure compliance with international codes and standards.

You will act as a technical advisor, mentor engineers, and collaborate with safety case authors, designers and delivery teams. Hybrid working 1–2 days remote per week is available.

Qualifications

• Nuclear or highly regulated sector experience essential.
• Strong track record in stress/structural integrity analyses.
• Proficiency with FE codes and industry standards (ASME III/VIII, RCC-M, R6).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead bids and delivery of stress engineering work packages.
• Act as technical lead for stress and structural integrity assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop internal capability.
• Represent Assystem in client meetings and reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure project success.
