Job summary

Toolstation is seeking a Senior Store Assistant for our Durham store. This part-time role covers 25 hours per week with early starts and late finishes, including responsibilities like deliveries, warehouse tasks, and stock management.

You will support colleagues to deliver excellent customer service, while taking on keyholder duties such as opening/closing and supervising daily tasks. We value reliability, flexibility, and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
• Keyholder or supervisory experience is desirable.
• Ability to commute to Durham and work 7 AM to 8 PM shifts with 25 hours per week.

What you’ll do

Senior Store Assistant in Durham

25 hours per week

We are looking for candidates who live locally and can easily commute to our store. Our stores are open from 7 AM to 8 PM, so you must be able to manage early starts and late finishes. This is a position with accountability for supporting colleagues to deliver a great customer experience, so whilst retail is not essential, you will need some experience of either being a key holder or supervising team members.

You’ll be the friendly face of Toolstation, helping customers find what they need, but you’ll also be hands-on with deliveries, warehouse tasks, and stocking shelves. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves! It can get hot in summer and chilly in winter, but if you care about doing a good job and providing great customer service, you’ll fit right in.

Get stuck in: Be ready to handle deliveries, unpack stock, keep the store clean, and prepare orders. Hard work and a positive attitude are more important than experience.

Provide outstanding service: Whether you’re chatting with customers or staying efficient during busy times, you’ll always offer a great experience.

Ask the right questions: Show genuine interest in customers’ projects so you can help them find everything they need to get the job done right.

Be Proactive: you’ll be expected to sell the benefits of Toolstation Club and Trade Accounts, signing customers up to experience great deals and competitive prices.

Keyholder responsibility: You’ll be trusted to open and close the store, assign daily tasks to the team and provide short term supervisory cover when needed.
