Senior Statutory Grants Manager — Flexible/remote working in the UK

We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean - defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.

We are currently looking for a Senior Statutory Grants Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Senior Statutory Grants Manager, you’ll play a leading role in securing major statutory and foundation funding to protect and restore our ocean.

You’ll develop long-term partnerships with key funders and manage a high-value grants and statutory donors portfolio that supports our vital work in ocean regeneration, water quality, and sustainable ocean use.

Leading the planning and delivery of large-scale, outcome-driven proposals, you’ll work collaboratively across conservation, policy, and engagement teams to create compelling bids that reflect the urgency and ambition of our work.

From shaping funding strategies and developing complex budgets to stewarding funder relationships, you’ll ensure every grant achieves maximum impact and aligns with our strategic priorities.

Additionally, you will:

  • Build and manage a pipeline of high-value statutory and foundation funders
  • Provide outstanding grant stewardship, ensuring compliance and timely reporting
  • Maintain accurate and robust CRM and financial records
  • Line manage and develop the Trusts and Grants Officer

What You'll Bring

To be considered as our Senior Statutory Grants Manager, you will need:

  • Experience securing UK statutory grants (including devolved nations) at 6-7 figures
  • Experience developing sustained and positive relationships with grant-makers
  • Experience with complex budget development, project reporting and claims for multi-annual grants
  • Proven line management or mentoring experience
  • A strong grasp of grant compliance for statutory funding
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the statutory grants sector in the UK/devolved nations
  • Knowledge of project management
  • The ability to produce well written and compelling proposals and reports
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and CRM systems
  • Excellent bid writing and case building skills

This role can be home-based in the UK, however, occasional travel to external meetings and events, and to other office locations, including Edinburgh and London, is expected and may require overnight stays.
