Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the Adult Emergency Department in London. This role offers leadership opportunities, coordinating patient flow, supporting junior staff, and contributing to quality and patient safety initiatives.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Adult Nurse with significant ED experience, strong clinical skills and a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
• Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
• Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload to meet patient needs.
• Manage effective flows of patients within Emergency Services to meet NHS targets.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
• Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide information as requested.
• Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff.
• Keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
• Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to Emergency Nursing as advised by senior staff.
• Take responsibility for self-development through the appraisal system and work towards completing personal development plan.

Main duties of the job
