Job summary

Infused Solutions in Birmingham is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to own database performance and resilience in an AWS environment. You will lead optimisation, tuning, and problem investigation while collaborating with developers to improve data layer efficiency.

You will manage on-site SQL Server estates, implement always-on and backup strategies, and shape long‑term performance plans for growing workloads.

Qualifications

• Proven SQL Server DBA experience, incl. senior level responsibilities.
• Advanced T-SQL with query optimiser knowledge.
• Experience with AWS SQL Server (EC2/RDS) and AWS storage considerations.
• Experience with Always On Availability Groups and backups/recovery.
• Ability to optimize performance and investigate slow queries.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise multiple SQL Server instances.
• Monitor performance and proactively address issues.
• Investigate slow queries, blocking, deadlocks, indexing problems.
• Use DMVs, Query Store and Extended Events to diagnose issues.
• Plan and implement changes for scalability and reliability.
• Support AWS-hosted SQL Server environments (EC2/RDS).
• Develop monitoring, dashboards and alerts.
• Automate routine tasks with PowerShell.
