Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking an experienced Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs across primary schools in Lewisham, London.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, delivering targeted interventions, developing vocabulary and listening skills, and collaborating with teachers, SEND professionals and Speech and Language Therapists. DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs.
• Experience in a primary school or specialist SEND setting.
• Experience delivering structured speech and language interventions.
• Understanding of expressive and receptive language difficulties.
• Confidence in vocabulary, listening and communication development.
• Experience collaborating with Speech and Language Therapists.
• Patient, engaging and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with speech and language needs.
• Deliver targeted speech, language and communication interventions.
• Support expressive and receptive language development.
• Develop vocabulary, listening and understanding.
• Encourage communication, interaction and confidence.
• Support pupils to access the wider primary curriculum.
