Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Are you a qualified Speech & Language Therapist wanting to use your skills working with children, young people and their families?

The Children's Therapy Service are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified speech & language therapist to join our experienced and friendly Greater Preston based team. Experience of working in paediatrics is desirable but not essential.

We work with children and young people aged 0-19 with well-developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication needs. We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT Forums. The Children's Therapy service has a strong network of Clinical Leads.

Main duties of the job

The team comprises of speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, consisting of both therapists and assistants. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children's own homes, nurseries and mainstream and special schools.

The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time and demonstrate excellent communication skills. An interest in working with children and their families is essential.

Qualifications
  • Professional Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Current Professional Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge
  • Understanding of clinical governance framework & implications for practice, including audit and research governance
  • Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools for children with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge of professional clinical local and national guidelines.
Experience
  • Evidence of recent and relevant post graduate experience encompassing the specialist field of practice. that demonstrates an in depth knowledge of specialist area
  • Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
  • Experience of working with children with complex needs and their families in community/non clinical setting
