Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Salary: Up to £42,803 per annum

Our neurological centre specialises in providing exceptional care for individuals and their families coping with acquired brain injuries and other neurological conditions such as Huntington's disease, Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis. We are here for you, every step of the way. The Chantry is a large Grade II listed mansion built in the 18th century and set within the magnificent gardens of Chantry Park. Our neurological centre offers a safe and comfortable environment for the people we support to thrive, maximising independence and supporting their social and emotional needs.

Main duties of the job

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as autonomous speech and language therapist within your multidisciplinary team
  • Assess how a person's communication impacts on their day to day life and provide intervention as appropriate.
  • Work with the person and their social network to problem solve and overcome barriers.
  • Assess communication and provide a management plan and rehabilitation (as appropriate) seeking specialist assessments as required
  • Provide training to staff and our service users social network
  • Support those on the caseload with eating, drinking and swallowing needs under the supervision of the Clinical Lead SaLT.
  • Attend MDT meetings and complete reports as required.
  • Be integral to service and organisational development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • ABOUT YOU:
  • The successful applicant will have a Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Achieved Dysphagia Competencies
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI e.g. social communication, cognitive communication, communication partner training.
  • Able to manage dysphagia within an adult neurology caseload
  • Minimum 18 months qualified experience encompassing working within relevant Neurological settings.
  • Enjoy working as part of MDT
