Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

RICS is seeking a highly credible and experienced Sector Lead to provide trusted leadership on professional and technical matters within the residential surveying and retrofit sector. This role is central to maintaining high standards, developing sector-specific guidance, and representing RICS with confidence across the profession and industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of standards, guidance, and professional development in residential surveys and retrofit.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert, providing insight and support across RICS teams and member queries.
  • Represent RICS externally on sensitive professional issues, engaging with government and industry stakeholders.
  • Deliver market insight and analysis to inform standards, CPD, and sector strategy.
  • Support cross-functional teams including Regulation, Communications, and Knowledge with sector expertise.
About You

You are a respected professional with deep sector knowledge and a passion for excellence in surveying. You bring strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive expertise in residential surveying and retrofit, with a strong understanding of sector trends.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes in complex stakeholder environments and represent RICS credibly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with experience leading substantial initiatives.
  • High levels of professional integrity, political sensitivity, and the ability to manage reputational issues.
