Wehave an opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer tojoin our friendly, dedicated team of MRI Radiographers as Senior SpecialistRadiographer for Quality & Safety.

LeedsMRI has undertaken a major service expansion, increasing the number of MRIscanners across the city. We therefore have a fantastic opportunity for aflexible, enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer with specialist interest inQuality & Safety to join our friendly, dedicated team in one of thelargest MRI departments in the UK.

Successfulcandidates will be expected to join our electronic rostering system whichincludes flexible shifts, weekend working and a busy on-call. Please notecar-parking at both SJUH and LGI is limited. The department operates between7.30am and 8pm, 7 days a week and our standard rostering is throughallocation of 12.5hr shifts, however flexible working requests areaccommodated, where possible, for those who require them.

Whilstnot essential, applicants are encouraged to arrange an informal visit.

Main duties of the job

Therole of Senior Specialist MRI Radiographer for Quality & Safety is adiverse one. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists,Service Lead and the other senior Radiographers to develop the MRI service,as well as supporting senior management in day to day service delivery. Thesuccessful candidate must have significant experience of MRI and a high levelof knowledge in areas of MRI safety and governance.

Therole will include duties within the following areas

  • MRI Safety
  • Quality AssuranceInvestigations/Audits/Q-Pulse
  • Health & Safety
  • Infection Control

Therole will be focused on supporting the department to maintain high standardsof quality in all areas of governance, supporting the Lead Radiographer, TeamManagers and Clinical Educator to ensure the department is compliantoperationally. The candidate should have a conscientious and forward thinkingmindset with a high attention to detail, there must also be a excellent timemanagement and ability to disseminate information in a wide range of formatsto clinical and non clinical staff.

About us

Thedepartment is based across 2 sites, St James University Hospital (SJUH) andLeeds General Infirmary (LGI). LGI is a major trauma and neuro-surgicalcentre as well as the home of the Leeds Childrens Hospital, and SJUH a worldrenowned oncology and transplant centre, and one of the largest teachinghospitals in Europe. The MRI departments support a range of specialtiesincluding neurosurgery, paediatrics, liver, oncology, urology, abdominal andvascular surgery. MRI in Leeds is a diverse and interesting department towork for, with Radiographers working closely with clinical teams to supportadvanced imaging, particularly in Neurosciences, Paediatrics, Oncology andLiver Imaging.

TheMRI department has 4 scanners on the St Jamess site - 1 x 1.5T Siemens Aera,3 x 1.5T Siemens Sola. The Leeds General Infirmary is equipped with 2 x 1.5TSiemens Sola, 1 x 3T Siemens Vida and 1x 3T GE intraoperative MRI suite.

Experience
  • Take a leading role in clinical training programmes in specialist area. Acting as a source of highly specialist complex information to more junior staff.
  • Experience in first-line supervision or management
  • In depth knowledge of current protocols relating to all aspects of imaging practice
  • Conduction of audit and appraisal programmes
  • Evidence of advanced knowledge and specialist experience
  • Knowledge of current radiographic and wider health issues
  • Knowledge of imaging equipment and its use in different clinical environments
  • Experience of quality assurance and audit programmes
  • Organisation of staff rota including covering for annual leave, sickness etc
  • Recruitment and interview panel experience
Qualifications
  • BSc (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography Diploma of the College in Radiographers (Diagnostic) State Registration (HCPC) Post Graduate Qualification or equivalent in specialist area.
  • MSc in Radiography/higher diploma in Radiography
  • Research module at degree level or evidence of research in practice
  • Attendance on appraisal/assessor course
Skills & behaviours
  • Advanced interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and non-verbal), with management, staff and patients.
