Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to join our innovative and friendly pharmacy team. The post holder will be responsible for the provision and continued development of a specialist clinical pharmacy service to wards at North View, our brand new award‑winning inpatient mental health unit on the North Manchester General Hospital site. The post holder will also provide senior leadership within the Manchester pharmacy team, clinically supervising and supporting more junior pharmacists, including direct line management where necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient wards at North View.
  • Deputise for the North Manchester Lead Clinical Pharmacist when required.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to consultants, medical staff within the Trust and other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Attend the MDT meeting on a regular basis.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to patients and carers.
  • Ensure drug therapy is evidence‑based, safe, cost‑effective and appropriate to the individual patient.
  • Ensure medicines management practices within the MDT and services comply with legal, national and local guidelines; develop local procedures and guidelines within designated teams and services.
  • Manage, supervise and train clinical pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and pharmacy undergraduates.
  • Supervise and train technical staff and other health care professionals.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Holder of a Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification, or a candidate keen to work towards this qualification while in post.
  • Experience in mental health, learning disability or drug and alcohol services preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
