Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Paediatric Dietitian to provide specialized dietary advice at the Royal London Hospital. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting both inpatients and outpatients in the PCCU and gastroenterology departments. The ideal candidate will have HCPC registration and extensive experience in acute paediatrics. This position offers an opportunity to further develop your skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

Job description

The role will cover the tertiary Paediatric PCCU and Gastroenterology dietetic service at the Royal London Hospital. You will work as an integral member of the Paediatric Dietetic team (31 Dietitians who work across 3 acute sites). This senior paediatric post supports our well established PCCU for 50% of the post. The workload consists of both inpatient and outpatients. In Gastroenterology you will work alongside a Specialist 8a Paediatric Gastroenterology Dietitian and 2 other band 7 Gastroenterology Dietitians, 5 Consultants, 1 Professor and the MDT which consists of clinical nurse specialists, and a pharmacist. You will also have the opportunity to build your experience within other paediatric specialities and be expected to have a small respiratory role. You will ideally have good paediatric clinical dietetic experience, with significant experience in acute paediatrics. PCCU and Gastroenterology experience is essential. You must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment. You will join a large friendly team of Childrens Therapists. We have a well-established programme of quality improvement and research, and fully encourage CPD. This is a genuine opportunity to develop your acute paediatric skills.

Main duties of the job

To work within the multidisciplinary PCCU and gastroenterology teams, to provide highly specialised dietetic advice to children and young people.

To undertake inpatient work and outpatient clinics in these areas.

The post holder would undertake research and audit on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • HCPC registered
  • In-depth knowledge in nutrition support and paediatrics.
  • oMember of relevant special clinical interest group Supervision training
  • oQualification in Paediatrics or PCCU or Gastroenterology or evidence of significant experience in these areas.
Experience
  • Significant experience working in Nutrition and Dietetics and experience within acute paediatrics.
  • Understanding of team dynamics and experience of working within a team.
  • Experience of working with gastroenterology patients
  • Experience of delivering undergraduate student supervision and clinical education to graduate standard in area of speciality.
  • Experience of Supervision of junior members of clinical staff.
Skills
  • Ability to work effectively single handedly with individuals and groups.

  • Ability to problem solve, analyse complex clinical problems and create practical solutions to provide best clinical care.
