Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Band 7 Diabetes Dietitian posts to join the Dietetic Team at Newham Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. We have a 1.0 WTE substantive post and another 1.0 WTE fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave. We are seeking two enthusiastic and motivated Dietitians with existing experience and skills in the field of diabetes to deliver a high‑quality dietetic service to patients with diabetes. The caseload is varied and involves supporting adult patients with type 1 and young adult patients with diabetes in an acute setting as well as in an outpatient setting. We are looking for active team players with excellent communication skills, to work alongside the existing dietitians and the award‑winning Newham Hospital Diabetes Team.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a member of the diabetes dietetic team, providing a service to people with diabetes at Newham Hospital.
  • Provide individually tailored advice to adults with type 1 and young adults with diabetes in the acute setting as well as in the outpatient setting.
  • Deliver structured education for adults with type 1 (DAFNE) in person and remotely.
  • Provide a highly specialised service and support complex patients, their families and carers in both acute and outpatient settings.
  • Deliver the dietetic service provision for diabetes.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior staff on a day‑to‑day basis, as required.
  • Be part of the Band 7 monthly rota to deputise the Clinical Lead Dietitian and complete the monthly service performance report.
  • Ensure that research and audit is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence‑based.
