Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Haematology & Coagulation

Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (Shrewsbury, Shropshire). The role may require working across sites.

Qualifications
  • Registered Biomedical Scientist (HCPC).
  • MSc in Biomedical Science (or working toward).
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory sections.
  • Manage and deploy staff within assigned sections.
  • Ensure technical performance, training and quality standards are highest.
  • Support training needs and deliver specialist advice to clinicians.
  • Provide cover for senior specialists and deputise for Deputy Head BMS when required.
  • Deliver training to Specialist Diploma level within area of expertise.
  • Drive service improvements and innovation within specialist section.
  • Undertake equipment evaluation and adapt methodologies for appropriate selection.
