Job summary

The University of Northumbria in Newcastle upon Tyne invites applications for a Senior Technician to provide specialist technical expertise to support research, teaching and commercial activities across the School of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics.

The role focuses on managing, maintaining and enhancing NESST facilities, working with academic staff, industry collaborators and space sector specialists to advance research and technology.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in a technical discipline such as Aerospace Engineering, Physics or Materials Science.
• Experience operating, maintaining laboratory or cleanroom equipment and environmental testing.
• Ability to diagnose complex equipment faults and implement effective solutions.
• Experience in a technical role within cleanroom facilities is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical expertise to support research, teaching and commercial activities.
• Manage, maintain and enhance NESST facilities in collaboration with staff and industry partners.
• Support training and safe operation of specialist equipment in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure accurate records, safety documentation and compliance across activities.
