Job Title: Senior Sous Chef – Location: Lytham – Type: Full-Time – Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 + tips

About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join a busy, popular venue in Lytham. This is a hands-on role for a chef who takes pride in cooking quality, fresh meals and delivering consistently excellent food. The venue is busiest at weekends, with quieter trade during the week, so flexibility and consistency across all service periods is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the kitchen’s day-to-day operations, including prep schedules, rotas, and team supervision.
  • Support the Head Chef in leading and motivating the team, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Assist with menu planning and development, keeping dishes fresh, seasonal, and cost-effective.
  • Manage kitchen financials, including budgets, food costs, GP margins, and waste control.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality ingredients at the best value.
  • Maintain strict health, safety, and hygiene standards, ensuring full EHO compliance.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, fostering development and team cohesion.
  • Step in to cook and cover service during peak periods, ensuring smooth operations at weekends.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef or similar role in a fresh-food kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen financial management, including budgeting, rota forecasting, food cost control, and supplier relations.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
