Job summary

UBDS Group seeks a Senior Solution Architect to lead end-to-end solution design for complex enterprise projects in secure environments. You’ll own architecture across data, integration, Azure services and security, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and governance boards.

You'll translate business requirements into scalable, secure architectures, collaborate with security, data, cloud and API specialists, and provide documentation, decisions and risk mitigation throughout delivery.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect with strong data, integration and Microsoft Azure expertise to lead the design of complex technology solutions for our clients.

This is a client-facing architecture role requiring someone who can take ownership of end-to-end solution design, work across multiple architecture domains and translate complex business and technical requirements into secure, scalable and deliverable solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Solution Architect, you'll work closely with client stakeholders, delivery teams, engineers and specialist architects to understand requirements and develop end-to-end solution architectures.

You'll take ownership of architectural decisions throughout delivery, ensuring solutions align with security requirements, architecture standards and the wider technology landscape.

Data and integration will be important areas of focus, but you'll need to think beyond individual platforms and consider how applications, data, integrations, Azure services and security come together as an overall solution.

You'll also play an important role in architecture governance, clearly documenting and presenting key decisions to senior stakeholders and architecture boards.

What You'll Do

• Own the end-to-end architecture and solution design for complex projects
• Work with stakeholders to understand business, technical and non-functional requirements and translate them into appropriate solution designs
• Design solutions spanning data platforms, applications, integrations, Azure cloud services and security
• Provide architectural leadership across modern data platforms and technologies such as Azure Databricks
• Define integration approaches between applications, data platforms, APIs and wider enterprise services
• Work closely with security, integration, data, cloud and other domain architects to ensure solutions align across architecture disciplines
• Produce high-quality architecture documentation, solution designs, diagrams and architectural decision records
• Ensure security, data protection, governance and non-functional requirements are incorporated into solution designs
• Lead and contribute to technical and architecture discussions with stakeholders and multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Present architectural decisions, options and recommendations to design authorities and architecture governance boards
• Identify architectural risks, dependencies and technical constraints and work with teams to resolve them
• Provide architectural guidance and assurance throughout delivery, ensuring implemented solutions remain aligned with the agreed architecture

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or similar role within complex enterprise environments
• Experience owning end-to-end solution architecture across complex technology programmes or projects
• Strong experience designing solutions within Microsoft Azure environments
• Strong knowledge of modern data platforms, data architectures and integration patterns
• Experience with Azure Databricks or similar modern data and analytics platforms
• Good understanding of Azure data and integration services and how they fit within wider enterprise architectures
• Strong understanding of application and systems integration, including APIs and integration patterns
• Good understanding of security architecture, identity, data protection and security-by-design principles
• Experience working effectively with security, integration, data and other specialist domain architects
• Ability to take complex or ambiguous requirements and turn them into pragmatic, deliverable solution designs
• Experience producing architecture documentation and communicating architectural decisions clearly
• Confidence presenting designs and recommendations to senior stakeholders, design authorities and architecture governance boards
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile delivery teams
• Current SC clearance is highly desirable due to the nature and timescales of our client engagements. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC clearance.

• Experience delivering solutions within public sector, defence or other regulated environments
• Experience working within secure or highly governed environments
• Experience with Azure data and integration technologies such as Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Functions, Logic Apps or API Management
• Experience with Azure Databricks in large-scale enterprise environments
• Knowledge of enterprise application and data integration
• Relevant Microsoft Azure, data or architecture certifications
