Job summary

Liberty Blume in Leeds city centre is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect on a permanent basis. This hybrid role requires 2 days in the office and involves shaping architecture across internal tech initiatives and a growing product portfolio.

You’ll design pragmatic, buildable solutions, own ADRs and integration patterns, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Platform, Security and GRC teams to ensure delivery aligns with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect or senior engineer owning end-to-end design.
• Strong engineering background with cloud-native architecture.
• Experience designing solutions on GCP with serverless, managed databases and event-driven services.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Good understanding of identity and security, including OAuth2/OIDC and zero-trust.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD and GitOps practices.
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL data modelling and enterprise system integrations.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and influence stakeholders.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our team in Leeds city centre on a permanent basis. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of 2 days in the office.

As a Solution Architect, you’ll be at the heart of how new ideas take shape across Liberty Blume, from internal technology initiatives to our growing product portfolio. You’ll take complex problems and opportunities and turn them into clear, buildable solutions, defining the options, making the key technical trade-offs and setting delivery teams up for success.

You won’t hand over a design and step away. You’ll stay close to delivery, evolving the architecture as new information emerges and making sure what we build stays true to the intended outcome.

This isn’t a traditional Enterprise Architecture role, and it isn’t hands‑on engineering. It’s for someone who loves solving complex problems, making pragmatic technical decisions and designing solutions that work in the real world.

What will you be doing?

• Shape new initiatives from the outset, turning business challenges into clear, practical and buildable solution designs.
• Explore technical options, recommend the best approach and clearly articulate trade‑offs, risks and dependencies.
• Own solution architecture artefacts, including solution designs, integration diagrams, data flows and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
• Design for security, identity, data protection, resilience, observability and cost from day one.
• Define integration patterns and API contracts across complex technology estates, including ERP and HR platforms.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, Platform, Security and GRC teams to ensure solutions are ready for delivery.
• Stay involved throughout the build, protecting design integrity while adapting the architecture as requirements evolve.
• Help develop reusable architecture patterns and standards, reducing duplication and long‑term technical debt.
• Present and defend technical designs, influencing engineers, business stakeholders and senior leaders.

Essential

We tend to look for people with:

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, or a senior engineer who has taken ownership of end-to-end solution design.
• A strong engineering background, with a solid understanding of modern software development and cloud‑native architecture.
• Experience designing solutions on GCP or another major cloud platform, including serverless, managed databases and event‑driven services.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• Good understanding of identity and security, including OAuth2/OIDC, federated identity and zero‑trust principles.
• Experience designing secure, resilient solutions with data protection and regulatory requirements built in from the outset.
• Familiarity with Terraform, CI/CD and GitOps practices.
• Understanding of data architecture, including relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling and enterprise system integrations.
• Comfortable creating Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), leading design reviews and clearly communicating technical decisions.
• A pragmatic approach to architecture, with the confidence to make sound decisions in ambiguous environments while keeping longer‑term scalability in mind.

Desirable

• Experience designing AI or agent‑based solutions, including evaluation, guardrails and human‑in‑the‑loop approaches.
• Exposure to workflow automation.
• Experience working with enterprise Finance, Procurement or HR platforms and processes.
