A local government authority in Nottingham seeks an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join its team. The role involves managing complex cases, providing legal advice, and supervising junior staff. Ideal candidates will have civil litigation experience and strong communication skills. This position offers hybrid working and competitive benefits.

37 hours per week - Full or Part-time applications considered; however a minimum of 3 days is required for this role.

Starting Salary is 51356 (Level one) rising to 54495 (Level four) pro rata for part-time subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and proactive individual to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team to undertake General Civil Litigation work. The work undertaken may include property litigation, commercial litigation, debt recovery, contractual disputes, claims and other general contentious work such as fee. in all of these areas is not a pre-requisite; however property litigation and/or debt recovery experience would be particularly welcome.
The role within the team is extremely varied and includes providing legal advice and assistance to the Council in respect of contentious matters such as rent arrears (leases), forfeiture/surrender fees, boundary disputes and lease renewals. You may be required to issue and/or defend proceedings, apply for injunctions, apply for charging orders, attend court/tribunal hearings, negotiate with third parties and/or engage in ADR on behalf of the Council.
The successful candidate will be expected to take on more complex matters and will also be required to train and supervise more junior members of staff. The successful candidate will also have line‑management responsibility for team members as required by the Team Leader, support the Team Leader with team management, ensure compliance with policies and procedures and will be required from time to time to deputise in the Team Leader’s absence.
You may also be required to undertake broader policy project and/or drafting work.
The successful candidate will work alongside other Senior Solicitors as part of a larger Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. You will obtain experience of a wide range of work and will be fully supported to further develop your knowledge and experience.
You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills along with the ability to undertake advocacy and supervisory/line‑management responsibilities. You must be able to manage a caseload with minimum supervision and have the ability to work well within a team.
