Job summary

Leonardo UK in Basildon is seeking a Software Team Leader to guide a team of software engineers within the Integrated Sensors & Protection line. You will work directly with the Head of Software on multiple projects, shaping software delivery across the full lifecycle.

The role requires strong communication, agile leadership, and a track record of delivering complex, safety-critical software in a collaboration-intensive environment. Hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of Agile techniques.
• Familiarity with formal problem solving methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead team leadership and hands-on software development.
• Support the Head of Software in managing a team of engineers across multiple projects.
• Operate within an Agile framework and lead agile ceremonies.
• Lead and develop software team members and provide line management.
• Co‑develop plans within a cycle planning process.
• Define and maintain development ecosystems for the team.
• Represent the software team with stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute as a senior engineer and drive best practices across the team.
• Progress projects across the full software lifecycle and support metrics.
