Job summary

Planet Education Networks (PEN Group) is seeking a Software Project Manager to own a growing portfolio of internal software products and lead a small offshore development team from Canary Wharf, London. You will bridge business needs with technical execution, ensuring product roadmaps align with evolving AI-powered initiatives.

The role emphasises hands-on software development background, full lifecycle delivery, and collaboration with stakeholders across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience building production software applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
• Experience with modern tech stacks such as React/Next.js, Node.js, PHP/Laravel, .NET or Java.
• Good understanding of APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Understanding of Git workflows.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple in-house software development projects simultaneously.
• Own the full software delivery lifecycle from planning through to production.
• Lead and support a small overseas software development team.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs, user stories and tasks.
• Work with stakeholders to define product roadmaps and priorities.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within milestones.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support developers with architectural discussions and decisions.
• Participate in technical reviews and defining development standards.
• Ensure scalable, secure and maintainable solutions.
