Job summary

A technology company in Greater London seeks a passionate Senior Software Engineer to work with media clients. The successful applicant will be experienced in Java and cloud-native development, particularly within AWS. You will lead the design of high-quality software solutions while collaborating closely with a team. This is a hybrid role with a competitive benefits package including 25 days holiday and a 10% pension contribution.

Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer who lives and breathes Java development to join us working with our media client. You will make a key contribution to the entire development lifecycle including new writing features, fixing bugs and performing code reviews.

You will have the opportunity to lead the design and development of high quality software solutions and tools to meet business needs, collaborate with Principle Engineers and Architects to define best practices, write clean/efficient code following good design patterns, lead research activities such as technical spikes, lead troubleshooting and issue resolution activities, follow automated test-driven techniques to ensure high code quality and participate in pair programming and reviews whilst coaching/mentoring junior members of the team.

The successful application will have expertise in a mainstream object-orientated programming language preferably Java, experience of building cloud native resilient and scalable systems ideally AWS cloud services like Lambda, S3 and Step functions, experience of following TDD and BDD development practices and have good working knowledge of continuous integration pipelines including deploying systems to Production environments.

  • some experience in AWS CDK (desired)
  • have solid understanding of software development principles, best practices and Agile methods (desired)
  • have developed non-functional concerns e.g. integration with monitoring/alerting tools, security tools and practice (desired)
  • have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
  • have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation

Experience
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work-based experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
